Sinn Féin would refuse to pay any non-State debt and tell the IMF 'You need to go' if elected, Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South Central Angus O'Snodaigh has said.

Mr O'Snodaigh was speaking at a meeting of left-wing groups in Dublin today.

He said an alternative to the "right-wing" policies of Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael was possible.

"We would immediately repudiate a debt that is not ours," he said. "Any of the bank guarantees that were not State debt would be repudiated...We would tell the IMF 'you can have your money back and you need to go'."
