Seven closure orders served on food businesses in June

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) served seven Closure Orders on food businesses during June, for breaches in food safety.

Restaurants in counties Dublin, Donegal, Laois and Meath were ordered to shut down.

They included Doyle's on Fleet Street and Spar on Grafton Street in Dublin.

One successful prosecution was also taken by the Health Service Executive on Chungs at Tullio's restaurant, Pearse Street, Ballina, Mayo.

“The seven closure orders served in June bring to 39 the total number of Enforcement Orders served to date in 2012," said FSAI Chief Executive Professor Alan Reilly.

"Each of these orders sends a clear message to food businesses that we will not tolerate unsafe food safety practices or non-compliance with food legislation."
