The woman at the centre of Ireland's second confirmed swine flu case is said to be clinically well.

The Department of Health confirmed yesterday that a second case of the virus had been detected in a woman who recently returned from New York.

She is being treated at her home in the east of the country with anti-viral medication.

Ireland's only other case of swine flu was in a man who had recently returned from Mexico.

He was declared free of the virus earlier this month after also being treated in his home.
