Search resumes for fisherman missing off Galway coast

A search will resume this morning for a fisherman missing off the coast of Co Galway.
The alarm was raised when the middle-aged man failed to return to shore in his currach.
Concerns about the missing man were raised with the emergency services at about 10.40pm last night.
The Shannon-based Coastguard helicopter, the Aran Islands lifeboat and Costelloe Bay coastguard unit were all called out to join in the search operation.
Sligo helicopter was later called out when the Shannon aircraft had to return to base.
The search was scaled down shortly before 5am today but was due to resume at first light.
