Police in Belfast searching for a missing teenager believe she may have travelled to relatives in the North East of England, it emerged today.

Helen McCurry, 15, was last seen on the Blacks Road, in the west of the City on April 24.

As an urgent re-appeal for information on her whereabouts was issued, police said they were growing increasingly concerned for her safety.

Detectives believe she may have been in contact with family members Graeme and Eric Fletcher in the Newcastle upon Tyne or Carlisle areas.

They have urged those relatives to contact officers in Belfast.

A Police Service of Northern Ireland spokesman added: “It’s also possible that Helen may have travelled to Newcastle.”

The missing girl is described as 5ft 10ins tall and of stocky build. She speaks with an English accent.
