'Scissor Sisters' hair salon slammed for making light of Dublin murder

A new Dublin hair salon is being slammed for making light of a brutal murder in the north inner city almost ten years ago.

Charlotte and Linda Mulhall were dubbed the Scissor Sisters after being convicted of killing Farah Swaleh Noor in Summerhill in 2005.

Now, a new hairdressers is using that name as it sets up shop near the murder scene.

Councillor Nial Ring says it is a disgrace: "There's a lot of disquiet in the area. It's on Summerhill Parade and it's about 200 yards from where the murder of the man by two sisters happened.

"It's in appalingly bad taste and people would prefer if that sort of thing wasn't allowed."

However, hairdresser Miriam Murphy says she chose the name without knowing about the salon's proximity to the murder scene.

She said: "Me and my sister are both hair dressers, so we used the name for that reason.

"I wasn't aware at the beginning when I had made the name, to be honest, but then I was told but I'm keeping the name anyway."
