The Government is in line for a windfall from the sale of part of the radio spectrum.

The telecoms regulator ComReg will announce the results of an auction of the multiband spectrum later today.

Parts of the radio frequency that are unused and parts that were used until analogue TV was switched off recently, are up for sale.

The sale will also allow mobile phone companies to provide a much faster internet service.
