Romania announces horse meat inquiry

Romania has announced an inquiry into the horse meat scandal amid suspicions of criminal activity.

It comes after Findus says it' is planning to take legal action and a French meat-processing firm at the centre of the controversy said it would sue its Romanian supplier.

Earlier this week, tests found that Findus frozen lasagnes containing up to 100 per cent horse meat were sold in Ireland and the UK.

France's Ministry for Agriculture says it considers the issue a matter of criminal fraud.
