Two more people have died on our roads this weekend - bringing the total number to seven.

A 16-year-old boy died following a crash at Bough in Cootehill, Co Cavan last night.

The teenager lost control of the car he was driving and crashed into a ditch at around 11pm. His body has been taken to Navan Hospital for a post mortem, and gardaí at Cootehill are investigating.

Meanwhile a male cyclist in his 50s has been fatally injured in Co Meath.

The man's bicycle crashed into a parked car shortly after midnight at Newcastle in Enfield.

He was rushed to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown where he died from his injuries.
