Road conditions improving as Cork avoids major flooding

Flooding in Cork yesterday

Road conditions have improved in most places this morning, after yesterday's widespread flooding caused major disruption.

Precautionary road closures in Cork city centre for this morning's high tide have now been lifted.

Some surface water remains on Union Quay, Fr. Matthew Quay and on Morrison's Island but is improving quickly, according to AA Roadwatch.

Gardaí say the road between Rush and Skerries in the north of Co Dublin was impassable for a time overnight, but many routes that were closed around the country have re-opened.
