Reward offered for man missing for eight years

A €10,000 reward has been offered for information on a man who went missing from his Limerick home eight years ago.

A fresh appeal to find Matthew Carroll has been launched by Crimestoppers.

Matthew went missing on Monday, May 8, 1998 in the Roxboro area of his home town.

The part-time truck driver was out celebrating the success of the local soccer team who had won the Lawson Cup the previous day when he disappeared.

Matthew was last seen in the Steering Wheel pub car park in the Roxboro Shopping Centre with three others between 7pm and 8pm walking past Xtravision and then headed in the direction of the Roxboro Roundabout. Gardai are appealing for any witnesses who saw Matthew to come forward.

Yvonne Hyland, of Crimestoppers, said: “Crimestoppers is appealing, in particular, to people who already have information about the whereabouts of Matthew Carroll but for whatever reason, were unable to come forward with it before now.”

Anyone with information can call Crimestoppers in confidence on 1800 25 00 25.
