Research indicates house prices are levelling off

The property site Daft.ie has today launched research showing that house prices are stabilising after five years in decline.
The research was conducted by matching properties on the Residential Property Price Register with the firm's own database.
It showed that house prices have begun to stabilise in the six months leading up to October.
Economist at Daft.ie, Ronan Lyons, said the research also highlights the gap between the asking price and the transaction price of properties.
Mr Lyons said: "Typically it is a 10% gap but it is smaller in the cities, particularly in Dublin, and it is also smaller for three and four-bedroomed properties compared to one and two-bed properties.
"It does vary from 8% up to 15 and 16%, on average though it is 10%, the gap between the asking price and the prices the property sells for."
