Rescue teams continue 'intensive' search for man off Donegal coast

Rescue teams are continuing to search for a man missing off the Donegal coast.

The 28-year-old man, who is understood to be a member of the Defence Forces, - got into difficulty while swimming in the sea off Tullan Strand, near Bundoran on Tuesday evening.

The search operation involves the Malin Head Coastguard, the Air Corps, Bundoran RNLI Lifeboat and 120 members of the Defence Force.

Shane Smyth from the Bundoran RNLI said that despite the length of time the man has been missing, the search is not being scaled back.

He said: "It's very much on-going. These couple of days are the most vital and he will hopefully be found very soon.

"We would it expect the search to ramp up over the weekend with more people becoming available to volunteer and to help us search."
