Report: Woman refused abortion under new guidelines

It is being reported a young woman has been refused an abortion, under the relatively new Protection of Life During Pregnancy Act.

According to the Irish Independent, the woman was assessed by a panel of three experts, after she claimed she was suicidal.

However, because the baby was at an advanced stage, it was delivered by C-section at around 25 weeks.

The woman had initially rejected this decision, and even went on hunger strike, but eventually agreed for the baby to be delivered.

The baby was born last week and is understood to be doing well.
