Report urges national framework for childrens' services

A new report is calling for a national framework for decisions about services for children, families and communities, especially in disadvantaged areas.

It says policy makers should use more evidence-based material when making their decisions, and that they should receive more training on how to use research to inform their decisions.

It also says that acknowledging limited or no outcomes - and introducing change where necessary - should be seen as positive, rather than a failure.

The report is being published today by the Childhood Development Initiative, which is based in Dublin's Tallaght.
