Report shows slight drop in civil servant sick days

The average civil servant took 10.1 sick days last year, according to new official figures.

The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform says that is a slight fall from 10.3 days in 2013.

Meanwhile, workers across the public service took an average of 8.7 sick days - down from 9.1 sick days a year earlier.

The Department says sick leave across the entire public sector has fallen, saving the Government around €100m last year.
