Report reveals €100m shortfall in roads funding

It has emerged that the National Roads Authority has not got the needed funds to maintain the country's new national roads network next year.

According to a report in today's Irish Independent, the NRA is €100m short of the amount required.

As a result some work, due to be carried out next year, will be postponed until 2014.

Forty-five priority road projects remain suspended on the orders of the Government because of budgetary cutbacks.
