Ireland's cancer patients are facing an additional burden of monthly medical bills worth up to €1,200, according to a report commissioned by the Irish Cancer Society.

The report on the cost of being diagnosed with the illness has found that more than half of people have to pay €155 a month on medications.

It also found that basics, like parking fees and transport to appointments, can add up to more than €280 a month.
