Report: Lenihan planning to widen tax brackets

The Minister for Finance Brian Lenihan is planning to widen the tax brackets to bring more lower income earners into the tax net.

According to the Sunday Times the measure is being considered along with a cut in the dole payment to prevent any disincentive to work.

Currently anyone earning €18,300 a year has enough personal tax credits to avoid paying any tax.
