Report: Each Garda to be responsible for residents of 150 houses

A new scheme will see every 150 houses in Dublin have its own dedicated garda, according to the Irish Mail on Sunday.

The newspaper reports this morning that the "back to basics" programme will eventually be rolled out to the rest of the country.

The Gardaí will be personally responsible for knowing every resident, while all residents will be encouraged to give feedback.

Victims of crime will be prioritised in the scheme, and 43,000 victims have already been spoken to as part of the pilot.
