Report: Dublin and Cork rents rising

The average nationwide rent of a property now stands at €821, according to the latest report by Daft.ie.
The survey by the property website shows that the highest rents are in Dublin, averaging at €1,057, compared to €632 on average in Waterford.
Ronan Lyons from Daft.ie has said, although rental prices in rural areas are continuing to fall, rents are increasing in urban areas.
Mr Lyons said: "The biggest difference in the rental market at the moment is that between Dublin and Cork in particular; and the urban market in general on the one hand and the smaller markets outside the cities on the other hand.
"What we are seeing, particularly in Dublin and Cork and to a lesser extent in the other cities, is stasbilising rents. In fact, what we are seeing in Dublin and Cork is rents rising."
The survey shows that property rental prices in Cork city rose by 2.6% last year.
Elsewhere, rents fell by a few per cent in Limerick, Waterford and Galway.
The report also shows that the number of properties available to rent at the start of this year was at its lowest level in three-and-a-half years.
