Report calls for cheaper health insurance for under 30s

A new report is recommending reduced health insurance premiums for people under 30.

The proposal is designed to encourage people to take out health insurance at a younger age.

The independent report says those who do not insure themselves until they are over 30 should be penalised with higher premiums.

The report also wants health insurers to offer discount premiums for full time students up to age of 23.

Health Minister James Reilly has welcomed the report findings and says the Government is committed to making health insurance more affordable.
