A new report is due to recommend changes to the management structures of an Garda Siochana.
It has been reported that the review of the police force examined all aspects of Garda resourcing, culture, practices and procedures, and recommends reform.
According to The Irish Times it is hoped the changes will streamline admin to free up a thousand Gardaí for frontline policing.
The Changing Policing in Ireland report was commissioned by Alan Shatter but will be brought to Cabinet by Frances Fitzgerald next week.
Sinn Fein's Gerry Adams thinks there are still concerns in relation to the leadership of An Garda Siochana: “All of the difficulties which emerged, emerged in the leadership within the upper areas of the service.
You have had this, a most unprecedented series of events, which led to the retirement or the sacking or the resignation of Garda Commissioner, depending on how you look at it.
“We still haven’t got to the bottom of the Fennelly report yet so there are huge issues out there.”
