Quinn wants 'cooperation, not confrontation' on teaching reforms
Education Minister Ruairi Quinn has said he wants cooperation, and not confrontation, with teachers over the reforms and savings identified in the Croke Park Agreement.
Minister Quinn's comments came ahead of this evening's Cabinet meeting, which will authorise a spending review across the public service.
Last night his Cabinet colleague Minister Pat Rabbitte warned basic pay in the public service faced another cut if the savings already identified were not achieved.
Minister Quinn said he was confident teachers would deliver the productivity improvements identified in the agreement and that he would be discussing the issue with the teaching unions next week.
