Quinn: I'm not ashamed

Former billionaire Sean Quinn has admitted he made mistakes but says he is not ashamed of what happened to him and his family.

Quinn, who was once Ireland's richest man, was declared bankrupt in the Republic last January after a previous declaration for banckruptcy was overturned in the North.

He is being pursued for loans of €2.8bn from the former Anglo Irish Bank.

Sean Quinn spent nine weeks in jail last year for non-co-operation with the now IBRC in relation to the Quinn family assets.

He said he is not ashamed for such events and said that the truth will come out eventually.

“God gave everybody a gift in life and he gave people different ones and in a lot of ones he didn’t give me,” he said.

“I’m not very well educated and there’s a lot of things I can’t do.

“But he did give me a gift in being able to make money. And if he gave me a gift to be able to make money and create employment in one of the poorest areas in Europe, I thought that was a great gift to have.

“And I expanded it, I expanded it sometimes stupidly.”
