Quinn family failing to comply with court orders, say bank lawyers

Sean Quinn

Lawyers for IBRC say there appears to be a significant failure by Sean Quinn, his son and nephew to comply with High Court orders.

Senior Counsel Paul Gallagher says the businessmen appear to have adopted the position of trying to keep their assets, even if they have to spend time in jail.

Three weeks ago Ms Justice Elizabeth Dunne put in place several coercive orders with the aim of reversing a conspiracy to put Quinn assets beyond the reach of the former Anglo Irish Bank.

The bank alleges that it is owed €2.3bn.

Lawyers for the businessmen deny breaching the court's directions and have informed the court they are appealing the orders and a finding that the Quinns were in contempt of court.

IBRC's legal team claim that some disturbing matters have recently come to light including, they allege, a video of a meeting in Ukraine in which Peter Quinn says he will have to lie to the court.

The Quinns have indicated they are appealing the coercive orders and a finding of contempt of court.
