Pyrite scheme cost hits €20m as more funding announced

The Minister for the Environment has announced further funding for the pyrite remediation scheme.

It brings the total amount of funding available to date to €20m.

The PRB will implement the remediation programme with support from the Housing Agency.

The group estimates there are approximately a thousand properties affected by pyrite, but just 418 completed applications have been received.

Minister Phil Hogan said today's announcement will ensure that the scheme is significantly funded into 2015.
