PSNI treat bomb attack on unmarked car as attempted murder

Police are treating a petrol bomb attack on an unmarked police car in Belfast last night as attempted murder.

It happened during further protests about a decision not to fly the Union flag at City Hall every day.

The vehicle was parked opposite the Alliance Party MP Naomi Long's office.

She says the violence is completely unacceptable.

“Regardless of whether people like the decision or don’t like the decision, they have to follow purely democratic means in their protests. The continuing violence is unacceptable regardless of the excuses proffered.”
