The prosecutor in a Kildare murder trial has told the jury there is a series of facts that he believes proves the accused man's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
James Lammon of Cardington Way in Athy denies shooting 22-year-old Jason Doogue on August 21, 2015.
In his closing address, Kerida Naidoo for the Director of Public Prosecutions, told the jurors there were no big centre pieces of evidence and that they would have to put a number of pieces together before a very clear picture would emerge.
Jason Doogue was shot by a masked gunman who cycled up to him as he sat outside his friend’s house in Greenhills in Athy on August 21, 2015.
Mr Naidoo said there were a number of facts that proves Jimmy Lammon’s guilt, in his mind, including an alleged threat he made earlier that day.
He also reminded the jury that Mr Lammon's DNA was found on a black top near where the bicycle was found dumped in the River Barrow.
The fact that the bike belonged to the accused man’s nephew was also significant, he said.
Fourteen facts in total were presented to the jurors who will ultimately have to decide which, if any, of them have been proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
