Prosecution delayed in case of murder outside Dublin takeaway

Gardai investigating the murder of a man outside a Dublin city chipper are awaiting various reports before his file will be ready.

Donal Colgan of Killarney Court, Killarney Street in Dublin 1 is accused of stabbing David Sheridan near the Five Lamps just over a month ago.

Sheridan was pronounced dead just hours after he was stabbed outside a takeaway on North Strand Road on the night of August 17.

It is believed the 45-year-old was involved in row inside the chipper a short time before he was attacked.

A post mortem revealed he suffered knife wounds to the stomach, chest and back.

63-year-old Donal Colgan was charged with his murder and appeared in court today where he was due to be served with a book of evidence.

The court heard the case was at an advanced stage but Gardai are still awaiting various reports before the file will be ready for service.

The accused is due back in court next month.
