Primary schools running costs go up

The cost of running a primary school has increased significantly during the year.

The union representing primary teachers has called on the Government to fund day-to-day expenses.

General Secretary of the Irish National Teachers Organisation John Carr said it takes a significant amount of money to run a primary school due to energy, maintenance, environmental and secretarial charges.

He said he hopes that "once and for all the Government will decide to fund primary schools properly".
