Post mortem due on remains of man found in Cavan lake

A post mortem is being carried out today on the remains of a man found on the banks of a lake in Cavan yesterday.

The remains were discovered near an area being searched for missing Dubliner Joseph Whelan - who went missing on Easter Saturday.

The 37-year-old had travelled from his home in Brindly Park, Ashbourne County Meath to Virginia County Cavan.

His pregnant wife raised the alarm after he failed to return.

A body was found yesterday on the shores of Lough Ramor.
