A post mortem is due to be carried out this morning on the body of a man who was shot dead at his home in Dublin.

A murder investigation is underway after 45-year-old Andy Connors was fatally attacked when a gunman entered his house in Saggart at around 11pm on Tuesday night.

The father of six was shot a number of times, shortly after he had returned home from a function in Co. Kildare.

His wife, four of his children and his niece were in the house at the time.

The State Pathologist Dr Marie Cassidy will carry out a post mortem examination on his body later today.
