The Courts Service has decided not to go ahead with the reorganisation of court services in the Dublin area.
The proposals included the possible closure of district courts in Tallaght, Dun Laoghaire, Balbriggan and Swords.
However, the proposed closures will now not go ahead because of the possibility of increased costs and organisational problems
Director General of the Law Society Ken Murphy said: "I think this is something the public should welcome…The proposal had been very far advanced. The decision was made in the light of submissions made by Law Society and many others."
