Pope's visit to Dublin expected to require €20m fundraising, according to Archbishop Martin

Pope Francis' visit to Dublin next year will cost approximately €20m, according to the Archbishop of Dublin.

Diarmuid Martin told RTÉ’s Today with Sean O'Rourke church collections and fundraising would make up the sum.

He said church collections might account for about €5m.

The archbishop said he wanted families who wished to attend to do so without incurring huge costs.

He said that the types of events possible were "quite limited" due to the pope's age of 81.
