Pop art supremo to attend exhibition opening

The prince of pop art, Steve Kaufman, will pay his first visit to Ireland today.

The prince of pop art, Steve Kaufman, will pay his first visit to Ireland today.

The artist – who is the former assistant to Andy Warhol – will visit Dame Street Gallery, Dublin, to inspect the hanging of a week-long exhibition of his work.

The exhibition, which opens tomorrow, will run until Monday.

Kaufman’s work currently hangs on the walls of some of the world’s most famous buildings including the White House and the Smithsonian Institution, the US’s largest museum complex and research centre.

The artist also boasts pieces in more than 600 galleries across the United States, 16 galleries in Japan and 22 galleries in Europe.
