Poll: More than 50% of Labour voters 'becoming disillusioned'28/10/2012 - 10:07:32
More than half of Labour voters are "becoming disillusioned" with the party, a new poll has shown.
The Red C survey in today's Sunday Business Post shows that Eamon Gilmore's party has slipped one point, down to 13%, in the last month.
Fine Gael has risen two points to 34%, well ahead of the rest.
Fianna Fáil is also up by one point to 19 per cent.
Pat Leahy, Political Editor with the Sunday Business Post, says there is discontent within the ranks of Labour supporters.
"Labour have already lost a chunk of voters that voted for them in the election last year. What today's poll shows is that they are in danger in even losing more.
"Over half of those who say they will still vote Labour say they are becoming disillusioned by the party, while another third say they are losing faith in the party and would vote for another party if they could see a credible alternative."
