Poll finds most people DON'T want public sector pay rises

Most voters don't want public sector pay rises, according to a new poll out today.

The Ipsos/MRBI survey in the Irish Times shows people would rather see more public servants hired, rather than higher salaries.

People also favour capital spending , ahead of tax cuts or welfare increases.

The poll carried out on Monday and Tuesday of this week asked 1,200 people across the country to rank their preference of Government spending of additional money.

Just 6% said that boosting public sector pay should be the top priority.
