Police chief: No suspects yet in Jill Meagher disappearance case

Police in Australia have no suspects at this stage after the disappearance of Jill Meagher, who has been missing in Melbourne since the early hours of Saturday morning.

Investigators say that they have grave concerns for the welfare of the Drogheda native.

They are now looking to make contact with a number of people identified on CCTV footage outside a shop which she passed on her way home.

In particular, they want to talk to a man dressed in a blue hoodie who was seen talking to Jill at 1.43am.

"The house in Lux Way, we went there with forensic specialists as part of a routine search," said Detective Inspector John Potter from Victoria Police.

"We took away some items, which I'm not going to go into, again as part of our routine enquiries.

"We've ruled no-one out, but I will say we have no suspects at this time.

"I'm not going to go into specifics about Mr Meagher, but I will say that Mr Meagher is not being treated in any way as a suspect."
