Police arrest 12-year-old boy after man dies following beating with electric guitar

Police in Belfast investigating the murder of a man beaten with his own guitar have arrested a 12-year-old boy.

Forty-one-year-old Matthew Goddard was killed on Christmas Eve in the living room of his home in the east of the city.

Detectives believe he suffered a brutal attack and claim he was hit with an electric guitar, but have not said whether that was the cause of his death.

Today they arrested a 12-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy. They are being held at the Musgrave Custody Suite.

Their arrests follow two others yesterday when a 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were taken into custody.
