Police in the North are appealing for witnesses after an 18-year-old man was shot in the Falls Road area of west Belfast last night.

Police in the North are appealing for witnesses after an 18-year-old man was shot in the Falls Road area of west Belfast last night.

Three masked men entered a fast food outlet close to the junction of the Falls Road and Thames Street just after 9pm.

The man - who was at the back of the premises - was shot twice in the right leg.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The men, who were wearing balaclavas, made off on foot along Thames Street.
