Petition to enter ‘My Lovely Horse’ in Eurovision 2015 turned down by TDs

A group of TDs has turned down calls to submit a song from ‘Father Ted’ for the next Eurovision.

The Oireachtas petitions committee has said it cannot force RTÉ to submit ‘My Lovely Horse’ as Ireland's entry for the contest in 2015.

A member of the public sent in a petition demanding that the song, made famous in the ‘Eurosong’ episode of the TV series, be sent as Ireland's entry to the real competition.

Committee chairman Pádraig Mac Lochlainn said the committee "didn't have the musical expertise" it needed to consider the issue.
