People Before Profit calls on Govt to save 400 Lufthansa Technik jobs

People Before Profit is pleading with the Government to save the 400 jobs at the Lufthansa Technik plant in Dublin.

The Jobs Minister Richard Bruton is being called on to intervene.

The company, which overhauls jet engines, is letting 100 workers go tomorrow and a further 300 on Friday, February 14.

A demonstration will be held outside the Dáil this morning appealing to the Government, the IDA and Enterprise Ireland to step in to protect the Rathcoole plant.

Richard Boyd Barrett of People Before Profit said: "This plant and this highly skilled workforce face their jobs being extinguished and really, it's crazy," he said.

"This is a growing industry (and) the Government has set aircraft as being a priority area. We're hoping the Government can intervene and either take over the plant, or find a buyer for the plant."
