Homelessness is on the rise in Ireland with more younger people living on the streets.

The Peter McVerry Trust has today published its annual review for 2012 which found that more than 3,500 people accessed its range of services, including hot meals and drug treatment, last year.

Up to 74% of all clients were aged between 18 and 35 and the youngest person to access the trust's services was 13 years old.

It also found that 80% of those who sought the help of the charity where men while 20% were female.
