A pedestrian has been knocked down by a car on O'Connell St. in Dublin City this evening.

The incident occurred at approximately 5:15pm.

Emergency services are attending the scene and the condition of the pedestrian is not yet known.

The left lane is currently closed to traffic southbound on O'Connell St at the North Earl St Junction.

Motorists can expect long delays in the area as a result.

7pm UPDATE: O'Connell St has now reopened southbound and all delays have eased.
