Passport Office urges people to use website for applications as postal dispute continues
The Foreign Affairs Minister, Charlie Flanagan, has said the ongoing postal disruption due to industrial action is of some concern to the Government.
He has urged both sides in the dispute to hold talks to resolve ongoing issues over pay and conditions.
Mr Flanagan said: "This is a matter of some concern to the Government, particulalry in relation to citizens, business and commerce.
"I believe it is important all parties to the dispute re-engage and I look forward to the Cabinet being briefed by my colleague, the Minister for Communications, Alex White, tomorrow."
Meanwhile, people are being urged to make appointments online given there are no postal services, and passports should be collected in person from the country's main passport offices.
Austin Gormley from the Passport Office said: "For those travelling in less than 10 working days, please use the online booking service of the Passport Office.
"For those travelling after 10 working dsays, please drop off your passport applications in the passport offices in Cork, Dublin and also the Irish Aid office in Limerick."
