Party passes for Patricks on Paddy's

24/02/2010 - 14:51:43
Namesakes of Ireland's patron saint were today offered a free ticket to paint the town green this St Patrick’s Day.

Dublin’s Guinness Storehouse has invited all Patricks, Paddys, Patricias and Padraics to come along on March 17 and join in its celebrations on the house.

Everyone who shares their name with the snake-banishing saint can pick up their VIP – Very Important Patrick – pass at the door and enjoy trad music, Irish food and a pint of the black stuff.

Organisers have taken account of their international clientele and provided a list of far-flung variations of the name Patrick in Arabic, Vietnamese and Hebrew.

Latvian Patriks can clink glasses with Maltese Patrizjus, and American Pattis can share a jig with Spanish Patricios at the event, which marks the Guinness Storehouse’s 10th year in operation.

But Patrick pretenders will not be able to sneak in for free, with a strict photo ID policy operating at the St James’ Gate attraction.

The Storehouse, which pulled more than 1 million people last year, is the third busiest brand experience in the world behind Hershey’s chocolate in the US and Volkswagen in Germany.

The tourist hotspot has seen more than 7.5 million people pass through its doors since it opened in December 2000.
