Palestine rally due in Dublin later today

A protest to mark 15 days since the start of the Israeli assault on Gaza will take place in Dublin later today.

Members of the Palestinian community and their supporters will stage a "die-in" outside the Department of Foreign Affairs and on Dublin's Grafton St.

The event is being organised by Gaza Action Ireland.

Former Leinster Rugby star Trevor Hogan will speak at the event, and said a strong message must be sent to the Israeli ambassador.

"Deliberate targeting of ambulances, hospitals, children … it's just got to stop," he said.

"People are out there getting the message loud and clear to Israel and to our own Department of Foreign Affairs, especially Labour and Fine Gael, who can really send a strong message, we hope, especially to the ambassador."
