The Chair of the Public Accounts Committee John McGuinness has said that he is concerned at the timing of the decision by the St Vincent’s Hospital to outline that it pays salary top-ups.

The hospital says Nicholas Jermyn is earning almost €300,000 a year - less than half of his salary is paid by the HSE with the rest funded by Vincent's private hospital and includes a €20,000 car allowance.
"I have to say that I was surprised by the manner in which the hospital put this information into the public domain," said Deputy McGuinness.
"They were asked for this a number of weeks ago and then they were asked, by me, to come before the Public Accounts Committee in January.
"They had agreed to do that, and lo and behold on Christmas Eve, this information now is published."
