Overall ploughing attendance almost equals 2011

The numbers attending the National Ploughing Championships in Co Wexford this week almost equalled last year's figure.

The organisers say 187,500 people turned out over the three days at Heathpark near New Ross compared to 190,000 in 2011.

A decision on whether the event will return to Heathpark next year or move elsewhere will not be decided until next month.

Meanwhile, motorists are being advised to expect delays on routes leaving and around the venue this evening.
